Accessibility statement
Last updated 11 October 2026
Venushub CY LTD wants everyone to be able to order from their seat with VenueBites. This statement covers the website venuebites.com, the ordering pages at order.venuebites.com (menu, basket, checkout, payment page, order tracker, find my order) and the VenueBites app for iOS and Android. The staff screens (canteen tablet, runner app, management console) are not covered by it.
Standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the level the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the harmonised standard EN 301 549 ask of e-commerce services. Concretely: every control can be reached and used with a keyboard and with a screen reader, has a visible focus indicator and an accessible name; text and its background contrast at least 4.5:1; the page language is declared and follows the language you choose (English or Greek); order status changes are announced; animations respect your “reduce motion” setting; touch targets in the app are at least 44 points; product photos are described by the product name; the QR scanner has a typed alternative (the venue code).
How we checked
An audit on 11 October 2026 ran automated checks (axe-core) on the pages of venuebites.com in English and on the ordering pages in English and Greek, with the lint rules of eslint-plugin-jsx-a11y in the build; then a manual keyboard pass of each web screen and a screen-reader check of the menu, product and checkout sheets and the order tracker with VoiceOver in Safari on macOS, on a local build. The VenueBites app was reviewed in code against the iOS and Android accessibility guidelines; it has not yet been tested with VoiceOver or TalkBack on a device, and we have not yet tested with NVDA or JAWS. The method and the full findings table are kept in the repository (docs/ACCESSIBILITY.md).
Known limitations
- Payment pages of the canteen's payment provider (Stripe, JCC, Viva, Revolut): the card form is the provider's own page, outside our control. Our sandbox page used for demos meets the standard; please tell us if a provider's page does not.
- Receipts in print: the on-screen receipt can be printed by the browser; we do not yet offer a tagged PDF.
- Colour as the only cue is avoided on fan screens (status always has text), but the tracker's step colours are not distinguishable by colour alone for some colour-vision deficiencies — the step name and “Now” label carry the meaning.
- Large text in the app: at the largest system text sizes some rows wrap to several lines; nothing is clipped, but the layout is less tidy. Being improved.
- Maps are not used on fan screens; venue photos are decorative and have no description.
- Greek text has not yet been reviewed by a native speaker; some screen-reader pronunciations of mixed Greek and English product names may be imperfect.
